"Ma Belle Evangeline"

Watched The Princess and the Frog last weekend. I'm sure plenty has been written about the new princess being black, and about the princess working towards a goal, and not just hoping for her prince to come. I just wanted to tell you that the music was great, the art was fun, and all the callbacks to the earlier movies in the Disney cannon were great. I enjoyed Keith David as the bad guy, and John Goodman in a supporting role, and didn't notice Oprah, Terrence Howard, or anyone else I was supposed to.

Honestly the music was my favorite part. I know that people were disappointed that Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast etc.) was pulled off the soundtrack, but Randy Newman goes great with the New Orleans and Cajun sound.

I'd give it a thumbs up. It swings for the fences and gets so close you want to give it to them. Old Disney style, with talking animals, great songs, and classic character looks. I'm looking forward to Tangled.
